Featuring the smallest light head in the line, the MR11 has an approximately 4-degree fixed-focus beam well suited to exploration diving. Its Sunspot reflector delivers a high intensity "hot-spot" that gives superior penetration with a powerful 500 lumens of illumination that is 300 percent brighter than halogen. Powered by a 12V 4500 mA NiMH battery, the 10-watt MR11 Sunspot HID Slimline gives 4-hours of burn time and is depth rated to 500 feet (152m).

Features

The MR11 comes standard with an elastic handmount or choose the optional Goodman handmount. The Slimline canister holds the battery pack and is machined from a single piece of polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC). Coupled with its round shape and PVC construction the canister is indestructible even under extreme pressures. The canister lid houses the on/off switch inside a switch guard to prevent accidentally turning the light on or off. A compression o-ring seal keeps water from entering the canister and locking latches prevent unintentional opening of the lid. A webbing loop allows for mounting of the canister on standard 2-inch webbing waist straps. The MR11 Sunspot HID Slimline is a small, low profile light that is kept easily out of the way on gear-laden dives and is also easy to travel with. Includes NiMH charger required for NiMH battery pack. The MR11 Sunspot comes packed inside a protective STORM CASE.

High-Intensity Discharge (HID) technology enables you to take along underwater light systems with output the same color temperature as the Sun. Among their key features:

HID bulbs have no filament. The HID bulb creates light by creating an arc between poles. The result is an extremely bright and powerful beam. Because of the low wattage required, HID light system burn times are substantially longer than other types. A 10-watt HID bulb is approximately equal in light output to a 50-watt quartz halogen bulb.
The HID bulb output has a color temperature of 6,000-6,500 degrees Kelvin, essentially the same color temperature as the Sun. As a result, the HID light is an excellent choice for underwater video and digital still photography -- and nearly any other underwater activity.
HID bulbs are generally rated as offering approximately 1,000 hours of bulb life. In reality, bulb life is more directly related to the number of times you turn the bulb on and off. Once activated, you should give the bulb at least one minute to warm up to its proper operating temperature before turning it off. You should also wait at least a minute before restarting a bulb that has just been turned off.

Great 10Watt HID. I have the Wreck Canister and it is slightly bigger than the slimline but both are much smaller than older canisters. Excellent light penetration with the sunspot. Only concern is the handle is made from plastic and from everything I've heard is prone to breaking. Using the elastic strap seems easiest route to go and eliminates the breaking problem.
