Defogging Your Dive Mask
As the window to your underwater world, you’ll want to make sure that your dive mask allows you a clear view underwater. Whenever you purchase a new mask, you’ll find a film of oil on the surface which occurs during the production of the dive mask. You’ll need to remove this film completely. Otherwise, you’ll always be faced with the problem of a fogging mask underwater.
One way to remove the film is through the use of dish detergent. Your diving mask should be made of a tempered glass which will not scratch.
Another solution to defogging your dive mask is through the use of a commercial cleaner, like Sea Buff. Sea Buff is ideal for a new mask which needs the oil removed. You can then follow-up the process periodically with an anti-fog gel, such as Sea Gold.
