This product has a neat design, is made well, has a nice writing space and the magnetic side is cool. But, it is bulky in thickness. It measures 6 1/2"x5 1/2"x1".
If you're looking for something a bit smaller, look at the QII (Q2) from Innovative Scuba Concepts, also sold by Divers Supply. It's 6 1/2"x4 3/4"x1/2". It's not as "techy" as the Quest slate. You don't have a slide to erase the magnetic size and there’s not a built-in flip cover to cover the magnetic side (which in my opinion is VERY awkward to operate).
Rather, on the QII, there's a wiper blade-like edge on the pen that you use to clear it, which is easy to use and it has a thin panel that flips around and snaps in place over the magnetic side, which is much easier to operate.
The QII is 3/4" shorter on the height and 1/2" thinner, and weighs about 20% less, at least. When you're underwater and trying to quickly communicate with your dive buddy, you'll appreciate the simpler design of the Q2!
