The PADI Cavern Diver Specialty Course teaches techniques that make recreational Cavern diving safe and fun. You will be given an introduction to basic overhead environment diving and the Cavern specialty will provide you the opportunity to discover if advanced overhead environment diving is of interest to you.

Cavern students will be taught the techniques and requirements of safely diving in overhead environments and the water filled cavern zone of caves. Limitations of Recreational Overhead and Cavern diving include all divers remaining within site of natural daylight, no penetration further than 130 linear feet from the surface, and no penetration through restrictions two divers cannot pass through side by side.

The Cavern course is a great first step into technical level training and those with a true desire to explore overhead diving safely should consider enrolling. The skills and techniques learned in the Cavern Specialty equally apply to both Cavern and Wreck penetration diving.

Course Overview:

The PADI Cavern Diver Specialist course consists of 2 class/pool session, 1 land session and 4 dives.

What you�ll learn:

Overhead Environment Buoyancy Control, Body Positioning and Control, and Anti Silting Fin Technique
Overhead Environment Dive Planning, Organization, and Advanced Gas Management and Planning.
Reel and Line laying techniques and use.
Overhead Environment Diving Emergency Prevention and Procedures
Hazards of Overhead Environment and Accident Analysis
Overhead Environment Communication Techniques
Cavern Geology, Land Owner Relations, and Cavern Conservation.

All Knowledge will then be developed further and tested through practical application and evaluation on your certification Cavern dives.

Prerequisites:

Hold a PADI Advanced Diver or equivalent certification from another agency.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Ability to hover in a swimming orientation for 1 minute or longer without use of hands or fins.
Ability to maintain neutral buoyancy with a dive buddy while swimming horizontally 100 feet and sharing air.
Ownership of all scuba diving equipment. Rental of scuba system not allowed in this program.
Minimum 20 logged dives.
