Scuba packages

Underwater enthusiasts need a good scuba package for their scuba diving explorations. Renting equipment is good if you are experimenting with scuba diving for the first time, but once you know this is your hobby, you should invest in a proper scuba package. When you buy such a package, you know that you’re the only one to use your equipment and that you’ve got the perfect package for your body measurements and personal diving preferences.

Scuba packages come in plenty of shapes and prices. With the right scuba diving gear, you can enjoy hours of underwater adventures without feeling cold. Your equipment alerts you about the oxygen left in your tank and helps you make the most of your hobby.

Depending on a diver’s diving experience and personal preferences, they can choose the dive gear package that fits their expectations, from scuba fins to gear bags, rash guards, bags, wetsuits, masks, tanks, underwater cameras, snorkels, and other dive equipment.

Many customers join Divers Supply with the question, "What do I need to begin my scuba dive journey?" Our answer is simple: a set of scuba equipment that ensures your safety and comfort underwater. We're not just talking about any set of diving gear, though. We're talking about our carefully curated scuba gear packages.

Mask, snorkel, and fins

You need a scuba diving mask to protect your eyes when you swim in the sea. Human eyes cannot stay open long in salty water before they start stinging, so make sure the mask fits well and feels comfortable. The most important feature of your scuba mask is to be watertight, so that no water passes through.

Snorkeling gear is useful because it helps use less of your tank. When you are swimming on the sea surface you can easily use a snorkel instead of your cylinder. The gas inside the cylinder is precious so you want to preserve it for when you are deep in the open water.

As for fins, they help you propel yourself and allow you to navigate the currents of the sea with ease and comfort that make you resemble a fish. Besides safety, fins add agility and control over your movements, which is great when you are underwater.

Wetsuit

Wetsuits come in many shapes, sizes, and warmth levels. You want your wetsuit to keep you comfortable, so wetsuits come in a range of thickness levels to help you keep warm. When you are underwater, you lose body heat fast.

Depending on the water temperature you will be scuba diving, you should opt for the equivalent thickness. As a rule of thumb, water temperature around 85F, which is found in tropical areas, requires a thin wetsuit of 1/16’’ while cold water requires a thicker wetsuit, 1/4".

Cylinder (tank)

A scuba tank or cylinder helps you stay underwater for long enough to enjoy the beauty of the sea world. The tank is filled with high-pressure underwater breathing gas and is usually made of steel or aluminum. There is a pressure gauge that lets you know how much air you still have to safely remain underwater. Most scuba tanks hold 80 cu ft of high-pressure gas. You attach your tank to your BCD when you dive.

BCD

The Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) is a jacket that stabilizes you when you are scuba diving underwater. By inflating or deflating it, you can maintain a steady position without topping or rolling.

As the scuba BCD is essentially just a jacket, you can use it to attach scuba diving gear like your compass, tank, bags, and any other tool you carry with you.

Regulator

The main function of the regulator is to turn the gas in your tank into breathable air for your lungs. It’s an essential part of your scuba diving package. The air in your cylinder is high-pressure which the scuba regulator transforms into breathable air. The way regulators work is by changing the high pressure of the tank into normal pressure for human lungs.

Dive computer

The dive computer lets you know about the depth you are in, the dive time, and even the water temperature. Dive computers can also calculate the pressure in your tank and other valuable metrics to make your scuba diving exploration safe and enjoyable.

Dive computers should be practical and user-friendly. When you are underwater, you want information about your dive to be quick and easy to get.

Weights

Weights let you sink in the water in a controlled way. There are different weights to choose from and they attach to your belt. You can carry your weights in your BCD or wear a weight belt with the right weight for you.

Enjoy the sea

Stepping into the ocean can seem intimidating but there is a sense of exciting calmness when you let yourself drop in the water and start your exploration of the seabed. Even when you travel, all you need is to find a dive center near you, grab your diving equipment, and enjoy the sea. Thankfully, buying scuba gear has never been easier. Our Divers Supply store has everything you need, from top brands such as Innovative Scuba Concepts, Atomic Aquatics, and more. Whether you’re interested in technical diving or recreational scuba diving, we’ve got you covered!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does scuba diving gear last?

A set of scuba gear typically has different lifespans for different components, based on usage, maintenance, and manufacturing quality.

  • Regulators: Many manufacturers recommend servicing every year or after every 80 to 100 dives, whichever comes first. With proper care and regular servicing, a scuba diving regulator can last for over a decade.
  • BCDs (Buoyancy Control Devices): A well-maintained BCD can last up to 10 years.
  • Wetsuits: A wetsuit can last anywhere between 5 and 10 years depending on how often it's used and how well it's cared for.
  • Dive Computers: A dive computer may not work properly after 5-7 years.
  • Dive Masks, Fins, and Snorkels: These can last a long time with proper care, potentially over a decade.

Of course, the actual lifespan of your gear can vary based on its quality, how often you dive, how well you maintain it, and sometimes, luck. Always check your gear before a dive to ensure it's in good working order, regardless of its age.

How long can you dive with scuba gear?

An average tank of 80 cubic feet will last you for approximately 45 minutes underwater. Have a snorkel to use when you are swimming on the surface of the water so you don’t use up the air in your tank.
