The XTX50 is for the discriminating diver who wants the benefits of a feature-rich regulator at a moderate price. This popular regulator has four medium-pressure ports all mounted on a rotating turret. This results in optimal hose routing while eliminating sharp bends in the hose.
Features an innovative Diver Changeable Exhaust system (DCE). This system gives the diver the ability to change from a small exhaust tee to a large exhaust tee. This gives the user a choice, wider exhaust tee for minimal bubble interference (essential for underwater photography) and narrow exhaust tee for a smaller compact comfortable regulator. The regulator will be supplied with both sets of exhaust tees
Optional 5th port is available for sidemount or twin cylinder set ups.
Can be converted from a right-handed hose configuration to a left-handed one. The process of changing the regulator to a left-handed configuration is both quick and simple. However this procedure MUST only be performed by an APEKS Authorized Service Technician
Available in yoke or din configuration
Braided flexi-hoses are now standard on all models. These hoses are lighter weight, more flexible and more durable
Suitable for coldwater use
Compatible with EAN40 out of the box

At $630 it breathes nearly as smooth and easy as my $900+ Aqua Lung Legend MBS. Nearly. Not quite there though. The 1st stage is a high quality hunk of marine brass and chrome with a smoothly rotating turret. The reg can be rigged vertically for a single tank or horizontal for twins. The 2nd stage feels like high quality as well. The breathing effort knob is easy to articulate with gloves but in comparison to the AL Legend, you must rotate the XTX 50's knob many more turns to get the same opening effect. The only gripe is the purge button is WAY too small. This is supposed to be a cold water regulator which means dry gloves, 7 mm gloves maybe 5mm gloves. Those gloves don't play well with a small purge. Admittedly, the pictures of the second stage are clear and I never thought to contemplate the purge button size. Had I, I probably would not have bought this regulator. Not the end of the world but you need to remember, especially in a high stress situation, you must be precise in pushing the purge dead center or along the narrow horizontal band that bisects the middle of the 2nd stage, or else no purge. Especially with large gloves made stiff by cold water. These can bridge the purge button entirely making it very difficult if not impossible to get a purge. Assume you must blast clear this instead. By comparison, all my other regs, if you press on any part of the front face, you can't help buy purge the regulator. You could do it with an elbow, or a knee. They are idiot proof. This regulator is not which either says something about it or something about me.
