Tips & Tricks for Setup & Underwater Use

Aligning the Lens Ring over Smartphone Lenses

  • Modern smartphones feature multiple lenses (ultra-wide, main, telephoto). Before tightening the clamp set screws, turn on your phone inside the housing and check each lens mode.

  • Center the 67mm ring so the ultra-wide and main lenses have zero corner vignetting (dark corners) through the adapter.

Bleeding Air Bubbles Underwater

  • When attaching a 67mm wet lens or macro diopter underwater, burp the lens: submerge the setup, swing the lens adapter open, wipe away trapped air bubbles between the phone housing port and the optic, and swing the adapter shut.

Neutralizing Buoyancy

  • Adding heavy glass 67mm macro diopters or wide dome lenses can make your smartphone housing front-heavy. Balance your rig by adding DIVEVOLK foam buoyancy arms to your tray handles.

Saltwater Maintenance & Care

  • Thoroughly soak the entire clamp assembly and flip-hinge in warm, fresh water after every dive.

  • Periodically inspect the small hinge pivot screws and rinse away salt crusting to ensure the flip mechanism opens and closes smoothly.
