The A Plus Marine (APL-1586) 65-Foot Finger Reel is a compact, high-visibility spool engineered for scuba diving safety and utility.
Designed to fit easily into a BCD pocket or clip onto a D-ring, this lightweight reel is a reliable choice for recreational and technical divers alike.
In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn't empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The Finger Spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped-off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double-ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.
A Plus Marine has created with these finger spools. Most all finger spools are easy to pay-out line by placing your thumb and index finger in the spools center hole. By holding them this way you can allow the line two rotate the spool between your fingers as the pals-out. The problem is rewinding the line back onto the spool. Innovative Scuba's popular finger spools are now available with hinged hand winders built in! Simply lift the hinged tabs and begin winding! The finger spools are available with 150', 100', or 65' (45.7m, 30.5m or 20m) of nylon line. The spools are made from impact resistant plastic and come equipped with a double-ended spring-loaded slide brass snap clip.
Note: These spools are typically paired with a marine-grade stainless steel or brass double-ended bolt snap to lock the line or secure the reel to your gear when not in use.
High-Visibility Line: Spooled with 65 feet of high-tensile, braided nylon line in Hi-Viz Yellow. This fluorescent color ensures maximum contrast and tracking visibility under water, even in murky, low-light, or deep-sea conditions.
Ergonomic Finger Spool: Crafted from durable, corrosion-resistant composite materials. The large center hole is designed for a secure grip, allowing for smooth, controlled deployment and easy winding even while wearing thick dive gloves.
Streamlined Design: Offers a low-profile alternative to bulky handle reels, minimizing drag and reducing the risk of entanglement in tight spaces.
Primary Applications
Shooting a DSMB/SMB/ DSMB/SMB Deployment: The ideal length for launching a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (safety sausage) from recreational depths during safety stops.
Navigation & Search: Perfect for short-range search-and-recovery patterns or temporary line-marking in open water.
Gear Security: Typically paired with a marine-grade, stainless-steel double-ended bolt snap (sold separately or included depending on the package) to lock the line in place or secure the spool to your kit.
