Replacement & Maintenance Tips & Tricks

Visor Replacement Procedure

• Clean Work Area: Always perform lens replacement on a clean, lint-free towel to avoid scratching the new visor during installation.

• Loosen the Clamping Ring: Carefully unbolt/unclamp the outer clamping band surrounding the Neptune III face seal.

• Inspect the Main O-Ring/Gasket: Before seating the new lens, clean and inspect the perimeter silicone sealing channel. Ensure no sand, debris, or hair is trapped in the groove.

• Even Torque: When reinstalling the clamping ring, tighten the securing screws evenly in alternating steps (top-to-bottom/left-to-right) to prevent uneven pressure distribution across the polycarbonate edge.

Preventing Anti-Fog Coating Damage

• Avoid Abrasive Defoggers: The interior surface features a factory anti-fog coating. Do not use toothpaste, abrasive cleaners, or flame treatment (commonly used on standard dive masks), as these will permanently ruin the coating.

• Use IDM-Safe Cleaners: Clean only with fresh warm water or Ocean Reef's specialized Neutral Mask Cleaner.

Post-Dive Care & Storage

• Freshwater Soak: Always soak the complete mask in fresh water after saltwater dives to prevent salt crystal formation around the lens rim.

• Drying: Air dry in a shaded area out of direct sunlight. Wipe the exterior gently using a clean microfiber cloth; avoid rough paper towels that can scratch the outer coating.
