Product Description

Oceanic MaxFlex LP Hose 36 Inch Hi Viz Yellow

The Oceanic LP Hose Maxflex 36" Yellow (SKU: 40-2218-036-B / OCE-40-2218-036-B) is a high-performance, low-pressure regulator and octopus hose engineered for extreme flexibility, lightweight performance, and high visibility.

Utilizing a double-braided nylon exterior mesh over a durable inner lining,

Maxflex hoses eliminate the stiffness and heavy drag associated with traditional rubber low-pressure hoses.

The Oceanic MaxFlex 36" Yellow Low-Pressure Hose offers a significant upgrade over traditional rubber regulator hoses by combining exceptional flexibility, lightweight construction, kink resistance, and high visibility.

Whether used for an octopus regulator, alternate air source, or customized regulator configuration, the MaxFlex hose provides dependable performance and streamlined comfort for divers of all experience levels

The Oceanic MaxFlex 36" Yellow Low-Pressure Hose is a lightweight, highly flexible braided regulator hose designed as an upgrade over traditional rubber low-pressure hoses. Built with Oceanic's MaxFlex braided construction, it offers improved flexibility, reduced drag, excellent routing characteristics, and long-term durability for recreational and professional diving applications.

The bright yellow color makes it particularly popular for octopus and alternate-air-source configurations, allowing divers and buddies to quickly identify emergency breathing equipment underwater.

Compared with conventional rubber hoses, the MaxFlex design is lighter, more supple, and more resistant to kinking, making it easier to route around regulators, BC inflators, octopus regulators, and pony bottle systems

Key Advantages

  • Superior Flexibility & Jaw Comfort: Braided construction eliminates levering strain on the mouthpiece, dramatically reducing jaw fatigue during long dives.

  • High-Visibility Safety Yellow: Bright yellow exterior sheath allows dive buddies to instantly spot and locate the alternate air source in an out-of-air emergency.

  • Kink Resistance: Unlike traditional rubber hoses that can crease and choke air supply under tight bends, the braided mesh loops smoothly without obstructing airflow.

  • Lightweight for Travel: Significantly lighter than standard rubber LP hoses, making it an ideal upgrade for travel-focused dive rigs.

Installation, Usage & Maintenance Tips

Proper Installation & Torque Spec

  • Inspect the O-Ring: Ensure the small Viton/Buna O-ring on the 3/8"-24 male first-stage thread is clean and intact before screwing it into an LP port.

  • Thread Carefully: Hand-thread the fitting into a low-pressure (LP) port—never a high-pressure (HP) port. Tighten firmly using a standard 9/16" open-ended wrench or torque wrench. Do not over-torque, as the static seal relies on O-ring compression rather than extreme thread tension.

  • Verification: Pressurize the regulator setup on a cylinder and submerge the first-stage connection in a water bath. Look for tiny streaming bubbles around the threads to confirm an airtight seal.

Hose Routing & Strain Relief

  • The 36-inch length is slightly longer than standard 28-30 inch primary hoses, giving your buddy ample room when sharing air during an emergency ascent.

  • Route the yellow hose under your right arm and clip the octopus to your chest in the primary chin-to-hip triangle using an octopus retainer.

Care & Maintenance

  • Avoid Sharp Snags: While resistant to abrasion, braided hoses can fray if pulled forcefully across sharp metal edges or Velcro wrap straps.

  • Post-Dive Rinse: Soak in fresh water after every dive day to clear salt crystals from inside the female swivel coupling mechanism.
