The OTS Guardian M12 Spring Quick Disconnect (SKU: 873006-000 / OTS-873006-000) is an essential internal OEM replacement component for the quick disconnect assembly on the Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) Guardian Full Face Mask (FFM).

Tips & Tricks for Installation & Maintenance

Professional Disassembly & Cleaning

  • Replacing internal quick-disconnect springs requires disassembling the locking sleeve. Lay out the internal lock ring, ball bearings, and O-rings in order on a clean workspace during replacement.

Inspect Ball Bearings and O-Rings

  • When replacing the M12 spring, inspect the locking ball bearings and internal sealing O-rings for grit, flat spots, or corrosion. Clean the sleeve track thoroughly and apply a light coating of oxygen-compatible silicone grease to the seals before reassembly.

Pre-Dive Connection Test

  • After servicing the QD coupling, pull back on the sleeve, insert the male fitting, and release. Always perform a firm tug test under line pressure to ensure the spring pushes the sleeve fully into its locked position.

Post-Dive Care & Salt Flushing

  • Thoroughly soak and flush the quick-disconnect assembly with warm, fresh water after each dive.

  • Slide the QD locking sleeve back and forth multiple times while submerged in fresh water to flush out trapped salt crystals from the spring coils and prevent spring binding over time.
