TIPS & TRICKS FOR INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE

1. Alignment & Thread Engagement

  • When reinstalling or replacing the M24 stop screw, make sure the rotating ABV cap is seated correctly in its track over the valve body before inserting the screw.

  • Thread the screw by hand first to ensure clean thread alignment without cross-threading into the polymer housing.

2. Proper Torquing (Do Not Over-Tighten)

  • Use the correct driver size to snug the M24 stop screw down until it bottoms out in its channel. Do not force or over-torque the screw, as excessive pressure can strip the threads or pinch the ABV cap, causing the valve to bind when turning.

3. Pre-Dive Check 

  • Before diving, rotate the ABV cap back and forth through its full travel range. The cap should spin smoothly from open to closed and hit a firm stop against the screw without sticking or backing out.

4. Post-Dive Flushing & Salt Removal - 

  • Thoroughly soak the entire ABV valve assembly in warm, fresh water after saltwater dives.

  • Rotate the ABV cap while submerged in clean water to flush out trapped salt crystals from the stop screw recess and prevent thread seizure over time.

Verify Tightness

During routine inspection, ensure the screw remains secure and properly seated.

Whenever servicing the screw, inspect:
