OTS Guardian M30 ComPort Blanking Plug Nut

The OTS Guardian ComPort Blanking Plug Nut (M30 Threaded Retention Nut, SKU: 246025-000 / OTS-246025-000) is an essential OEM replacement component designed specifically for the Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) Guardian Full Face Mask (FFM).

This M30-threaded retention nut secures the accessory communications port (comport) blanking plug when an underwater wireless or hardwired communication module (like an OTS Buddy Phone or Aquacom ear/microphone assembly) is not installed on the right-hand side of the mask.

The OTS M30 ComPort Blanking Plug Nut is a small but critical component that secures the communications-port blanking system on the Guardian Full Face Mask. When paired with the M29 ComPort Plug, it helps maintain proper mask integrity, protects the communications opening from contamination, and ensures dependable performance until a communications module is installed.

The OTS Guardian M30 ComPort Blanking Plug Nut is a genuine replacement hardware component used on the OTS Guardian Full Face Mask. The nut secures the ComPort blanking plug assembly in masks that are not equipped with a communications system, helping maintain a proper seal over the communication port opening.

Where is the location of the nut in the Guardian Mask? 

According to the Guardian exploded-view parts diagram, the M30 nut threads onto the communication-port blanking plug assembly and secures it to the mask body when no communication module is installed.

Knurled Grip Surface: Features a textured, knurled outer edge allowing divers or surface tenders to grip and thread the nut smoothly, even while wearing wet 5mm or 7mm neoprene gloves.

Corrosion-Proof Composite: Made from high-strength marine composite plastic that will never rust, freeze, or gall against the mask body threads.

Tips & Tricks for Installation & Maintenance

Always Check the O-Ring Seat

  • Before threading the M30 nut down over the blanking plug, verify that the inner rubber O-ring on the plug is clean, lubricated with a light coat of silicone grease, and free of sand or hair.

Hand-Tighten Only

  • Thread the M30 nut on by hand until it makes firm contact and compresses the O-ring seal. Do not use wrenches or pliers to tighten this nut, as over-torquing can strip the plastic M30 threads or crack the port housing.

Switching to Underwater Communications

  • When installing an OTS Buddy Phone or hardwired ear/mic assembly, remove this blanking nut and plug, and keep them together in your dive bag as a backup set. The comms bulkhead module uses the same M30 thread profile to lock in place.

Post-Dive Flushing & Thread Care

  • Soak the mask in fresh water after every dive. Salt crystals can collect inside the fine M30 threads; gently spinning the nut back and forth under clean water flushes out trapped salt grit and keeps the threads turning smoothly.
