Have you ever come home from a dive trip feeling like you didn’t get to do enough diving? Spend a long weekend diving to your heart’s content on one of the M/V Shearwater’s Florida Liveaboard Expeditions!

Owned and operated by Jim Abernethy’s Scuba Adventures, the M/V Shearwater is well known for its friendly crew, comfortable accommodations, delicious hot meals, and easy access to all of Palm Beach County’s spectacular dive sites.

A typical day on a Shearwater Liveaboard trip goes like this: eat, dive, dive, eat, dive, dive, dive, eat, sleep, repeat. Start each day waking up to ocean sunrises, just steps from your dive gear

(no schlepping soggy dive gear back and forth from a hotel room); then dive all day and into the night! On-board compressors and bank bottles with long fill whips allow for your tank to be refilled in place with either air or Nitrox. Custom designed dive seats, tank racks, wetsuit hangers, and dive platforms make getting in and out of the water quick and easy. Since your gear is always set up and ready to go, you’ll be able to maximize your daily bottom time and make as many as 5 dives a day.

Make sure you bring your camera on this trip! Divers with photography equipment will be pleased to find ample workspace and plenty of charging stations at the camera table as well as large designated rinse bins on the deck. Jim Abernethy is an award-winning wildlife photographer and documentary filmmaker, so you can expect expeditions on his boat to be rich in photo opportunities!

Palm Beach County is home to some of the warmest, clearest waters on the East Coast and is well known as a word-class dive destination! On this trip divers will have the opportunity to explore colorful reefs and spectacular shipwrecks from the Jupiter Inlet all the way down to Pompano Beach. Dive sites along this portion of Florida’s coast have maximum depths ranging from just 25 feet at the shallow reefs to 130 feet at the deep reefs and wrecks. Moderate currents on the bottom allow for easy drift diving (and therefore maximum gas time!) at most sites. The nutrient-rich Gulf Stream brings a tremendous amount of marine life to this area, so you’ll be swimming with rays, sea turtles, sharks, Goliath grouper, countless tropical fish and more!

Since these expeditions are all-inclusive, all you need to do is show up with your certification card and dive gear! No need to worry about hotel reservations, rental cars, or crowded restaurants. Plus, nitrox upgrades are free! These trips are limited to just 11 people, so you will find the crew extremely attentive to all your needs. The Shearwater’s professional chef prepares 3 delicious hot meals each day as well as snacks for surface intervals and is more than happy to accommodate any special dietary needs.
