Thank you for your inquiry and question about this product. If you are just sliding it into the Monorail track, you are actually only halfway there! That small lip or groove is designed to align and position the plate, but it isn't meant to hold it in place against the tugs and pulls of diving. What actually secures the accessory mount plate to the Hydros Pro 2 is a stainless steel screw. Here is how the setup works to lock it down tightly:
1. The Monorail Track Alignment. The plate hooks or slides behind the Monorail matrix system on the BCD. This locks the plastic backing plate horizontally and vertically so it can't twist or slide around freely.
2. The Locking ScrewIf you look at the center or end of the mounting plate, there is a designated screw hole. The accessory kit comes packaged with stainless steel screws (usually one per plate). You line up the hole on the plate with the corresponding matrix hole on the BCD's Monorail. You thread the stainless steel screw through from the front/accessory side to anchor it directly into the BCD frame.
3. Mounting the Gear (Knives, Pockets, etc.)If you are mounting an accessory like a Scubapro Mako knife sheath or a Ninja Pocket, the screws often pass through both the accessory and the mounting plate, threading firmly into the BCD back-anchors.
Pro-Tip: Because these screws are going into a plastic matrix and will be subjected to salt water, tighten them until they are snug, but do not overtighten them, as you can strip the plastic threading. A lot of divers like to check that these screws are tight during their pre-dive gear check, as vibrations during travel can sometimes wiggle them loose over time.
