The SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova Gorilla Open-Heel Diving Fins (Base SKU Series: 25.736.X00 / SCU-25.736.X00) are the stiffer, heavy-duty adaptation of the standard Seawing Nova fin.
Utilizing a specialized Monprene compound additive, the Gorilla model increases blade stiffness and power output, making it purpose-built for technical divers, public safety divers, commercial operators, and high-current ocean environments where maximum thrust and leverage are required.
While retaining the hydrodynamic geometry, winglet tips, and flexible hinge joint of the standard Seawing Nova, the Gorilla uses a stiffer formulation of Monprene®.
This stiffer flex profile provides higher resistance during the kick stroke, resulting in increased power transfer and acceleration when pushing heavy gear configurations, double tanks, stage bottles, or thick cold-water exposure suits against strong currents.
The successor to the famous Scubapro Gorilla fins of the 1980s, this new version of the award-winning Seawing Nova has been fine-tuned to provide a slight increase in stiffness and snap. They give you more power, more speed and even better frog-kick-ability while at the same time ensuring they still offer the legendary comfort and efficiency of Seawings! The Gorillas are ideal for those diving in demanding conditions! The secret to the Gorilla Nova design is the articulated joint that allows the blade to pivot allowing the entire blade to generate thrust. Pivot control technology ensures the most efficient angle of attack is maintained no matter how hard or softly you kick, generating thrust without drag or wasted energy. Gorilla Nova incorporates clean water blade geometry for optimum propulsion. Water is free to flow onto the working section of the blade, resulting in drag reduction and a thrust increase. Variable pivot control ribs ensure that the most efficient angle of attack is maintained across all strengths of kick.
Comfort is felt with Gorilla's ergonomic foot pocket with extended heel plate that insuring ultimate power transmission with less leg strain. Durable Monprene construction makes Seawing virtually indestructible and wing tips arc upwards, increasing high-speed stability. Fins have marine quality bungee heel strap with custom adjustment system for total comfort and convenience. Fins are available in multiple sizes and colors.

Operational Tips & Pro Tricks
Selecting the Right Fin Stiffness: If you dive in a lightweight tropical single-tank setup, the standard Seawing Nova or Supernova will provide a more forgiving kick. Choose the Gorilla specifically if you swim with heavy double tanks, stage bottles, or drysuits, or regularly encounter strong currents.
Power Kick Mechanics: To extract maximum thrust from the Gorilla's stiffer blade profile, utilize smooth, full-leg flutter kicks originating from the hips rather than short, rapid ankle flicks.
Drysuit Boot Sizing: The open-heel foot pocket on the Gorilla is generously proportioned. When sizing for a drysuit fitted with thick neoprene boots or heavy rocker soles, test the fit to ensure the heel sits securely against the rear plate notch.
Care & Storage: Monprene® is highly resistant to UV rays, chemicals, and salt degradation. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after use and store flat or suspended by the bungee strap to preserve blade alignment.

i had a pair of regular novas before these and wanted something a little stiffer. the gorillas did not disappoint. great for diving in current.
